Fidelia App Reviews

Excellent playback of FLAC files

The cost of this app is insignificant compared to getting carried away buying albums on the HD Tracks and iTrax sites! Im not the most astute audiophile but I usurped my wifes Mac Mini and ran it through an Arcam rDAC into a tube amp. The 96/24 sound is terrific and matches the quality of any of my SACDs. I did have trouble importing my iTunes library (only some files came over) so I just run that as a separate app. So far I have had no crashes but everybodys situation (and computer) is different. Converting WAV (from iTrax) to FLAC is a breeze, although unnecessary. Bottom line… it may not be perfect but it opened up the world of hi rez downloads for me. PS I replaced my wifes Mac Mini with the latest iMac so dont feel bad for her…

Perfect App

Perfectly match with studio monitors. great quality and very user friendly. upload all your Itunes musics to the playlist and enjoy the quality. for FLAC format this app is one of the best. I like the interface and player also. Thanks. Hamidreza

A Wonderful Addition for Any Music Lover…

Ive had this for a while now and need to post that I really like this program. Ive been able to learn a lot about my music from it. Having a Player in your lap, via my laptop, is quite a neat and wonderful thing. I like the VU meters, the wave form, and just the overall looks of the system. The sound is as good as any Ive played, perhaps better… the sound is just top notch. I like the ability to set it up to suit my preferences. Ive contacted coustomer support, and they are just wonderfu. To the point of being jaw droping fast and right on it. A very nice thing to have, even if you dont need it. The style of the player is old school to me, and it suites me just fine. I use this player for my evening relaxing listen, it does not disappoint, with the lights down low, the volume up a bit and just the player on your screen, the VU meters beating out the rhythm in time, it will soon become one of your best friends, An enjoyable friend at that. I know they are always working to keep it updated, and appear to take user input to heart. Things that just dont seem to happen any more. Im gong to get the upgrade for this as well. It adds some nice features, but if you can only spring for the $20, this is money well spent if you love your tunes. I could go on… the player deserves as much praise as I could heap upon it. Anyway a good buy by me. Enjoy!

not worthy of its 5-star rating.

this app looks pretty, it plays music, yes it supports flac, etc. the playlist/library management parts are a total joke. it barely works.. all the things you expect of the Library screen more or less are non-functional, such as sorting by name, or artist, album, etc. You click the header field up top that says "Album"… nothing happens. it flashes and shows you the same thing it was before. best of all, half the time, the player gets confused and seems to not know what its doing followed shortly after by a crash. ive been sitting on this review for a few months hoping an update would come out and nothing. this says to me that the authors of it dont even use it. i really want to like it, but seriously, you might as well just use itunes if you dont need the more exotic formats. theres decibel and a few other apps on the mac app store if you do.

Good start

I have really been enjoying this media player however there are lots of bugs. The main bugs Ive found are: items not staying in my media player library when quiting and reopening the program. This problem for me is persistant and happens every time I close fidelia. Also sometimes when I drop a folder of tunes (just a single album usually) onto my library it crashes sometimes. And the crash reporter has a bug in and of itself where it pops up over and over regardless of what you click (cancel or send). Other than bugs, this app is decent. If you can afford it.

BEST Flac player but library bug kills idea of every day use

I only use FLAC for audio, so I purchased this app to replace iTunes for all of my audio playback. The plugins sound great and Id love to try them but Im going to hold off until I can count on the app saving the library I created when I close the program. It hasnt done so yet. These issues are enough to make me stop for now but not to give up. * PLUS: sounds great - playback is as good as Id hoped, appears to have a great extended featureset, and it did save changes to the files I re-tagged, * MINUS (and a big one): library "save" state - Its enough to make me put this one on "hold". My fingers are crossed I didnt waste my $$. Once the library problem is fixed this app rates a 5+….

Solid Music App

Ive had this application for a few months now. I use it to play all my music files regardless of their format. I use it with an external digital-to-anolog converter, and the sound quality is quite simply amazing. In-App purchases like FHX, which is a crossfeed for headphone use, are also wonderful, Fidelia is a great, easy way to play all of your music through one beautiful player. The slick interface also has a picture of the waveform, which makes seeking through songs incredibly easy. There are updates every few months that are constantly bringing more features to the player. Theres also a remote app for iPhone which I occassionally use. The few times Ive had to contact customer support, I got helpful responses the next day. My only one complaint about this player is that it sometimes lags especially with sample rates above 44.1kHz. Sometimes the music stops altogether, and Im forced to restart the application (this is why I gave only four stars), but this only happens rarely. For an audiophile, Fidelia is probably the best music player available in the App Store.

Exactly what I was looking for.

All I wanted was a proper music player that could just play any file that I could throw at it. I was basically looking for a foobar2000 subsitute for Mac, and I feel that this is it. Sounds great, looks awesome, and very simple. It is just a music player that its goal is just to sound good and thats it. My only complaint is that the addon features are way too expensive. I really liked the FHX feature on my AKG K701, but 50 dollars on top of the app price is too much. Otherwise, this is perfect.

Nice GUI but...

Slick interface, and very nice that you can mount AUs. But freezes, freezes, freezes…almost unusable. Very disappointed by this freezing behavior.

Sound and format versatility fine: playlist access poor

The sound and ability to process formats is useful and seems unproblematical, but the playlist access and organizational control are unacceptable. If, for example, one orders songs by composer, the songs under each composer are in random order including different movements of a piece and there is no way to edit information on any selection. In short, if you have a really simple iTunes library this program seems usable; otherwise, you are better off working with itunes. Perhaps, Fidelia could make sense with two libraries: one for lossless and mp3 files and another for flac files.

Good Program, Freezes though

Bought the program about 20 minutes ago.. Plays my files rather well, easy to operate interface, mild customization, BUT I now found out what some people meant when they said it freezes. Ive had to force quit and restart the program twice now.. and Ive had it for 20 MINUTES.

would like it if it worked...

I bought this app a while back, but their support says they dont have a record of it and I dont see any option on the app store to even contact support. Starting to dislike apple more every day. I went ahead and downloaded the trial, ridiculously buggy, all around bad experience. When did work it sounded fine, but adding music to the library made my processor run 300% and would eventually stop responding. On restart the library was empty. Wasted more of my money in time than the cost of the app...

Looks beautiful...

Too bad it randomly cuts out in the middle of songs.

Avoid 1.3.1

While I like this app for the most part, this update does not recognize my external USB DAC or let me add songs to a playlist. Recommend passing this version by.

Love Fidelia

After trying Fidelia and other apps trial versions, I decided Fidelia was the best for me at $19.99. I Airplay Fidelia to my SmartTV and play music through my Bose Solo. What a difference! Fidelia sounds great. I also want to comment on the excellent support Fidelia provided. They responded immediately to my support requests and continued to follow through till problem was resolved. Im very happy. The only request I would have from Fidelia is to add the album art work. I do miss it. But the sound is great and hopefully they will add this feature.

unreliable

I thought this would be a really great buy, especially for the price. Instead, if I even think of launching another app while it is playing, it stutters and then crashes. I would pass this up in favor of something more reliable, if it exists… Bummer

Doesn’t Work

The couple of times this app has actually opened, it doesn’t really work. Songs don’t import fully (gaps of silence interspersed throughout the song), when trying to import an entire album only a few songs show up in the library, and a lot of times nothing shows up after importing. Also, it crashed every time I have used it. This seems like it could be a really cool app but it needs a serious update and I really don’t like the fact that I paid $20 for something that doesn’t work and there is nothing I can do about it. Absolute bull shart.

doesn’t work

doesnt let me import songs. completely irresponsive. how do I get my money back?

Best audio engine out there!

So far I have tried Fidelia, Pure Music, Amarra, Audirvana, Bit Perfect, and Decibel. Each of these listening tools has their own strengths and weaknesses. Amarra is the closest contender to Fidelia, as far as warmth and natural sound goes (but Amarra is also more flukey to work with and crashes and freezes sometimes). In fact I routinely rotate through my entire collection of audio players (I’ve purchased licenses to all of them). It’s kind of like “tube rolling”. Yet listening with a good DAC/amp and a nice set of speakers - Fidelia is the one I keep coming back to. Fidelia just sounds more engaging. It is warmer sounding - less digital. It produces a larger soundstage. It seems to have a better sense of energy and is more fun to listen to than any of the other players that I’ve tried. And all the while, it sounds REAL. The music through Fidelia just sort of pulls you in. I keep wanting to find a reason to like one of the other players, but Fidelia is the one I listen to everyday. It’s a great product! By the way, I’m puzzled about why there are reviews from folks having a problem with Fidelia. I use it at home and at my office. Both computers are running OSX 10.9 and the latest version of Fidelia, and I am having consistently good results - no problems whatsoever.

Don’t Waste Your Money

I downloaded Fidelia and looked at the instructions…which are essentially nonexistant. I loaded it, strictly by intuition, and instructed it to add my music files and pointed it to my iTunes Music folder, It converted some of the files and then crashed. When I rebooted it and tried again, it made it a little farther and then crashed again. In the albums where it did make conversions, it reconverted the MP3 files repeatedly, so I had multple copies of the same recording. It didn’t know to not make another conversion. Even worse, when I looked at the songs that it had converted, it listed no album or artist information…just the song titles. I just wasted almost $20 on a crap piece of software with no real instructions. And, given the policies of the iTunes App Store, I might have just as well lit the $20 bill on fire and watched it burn.
